The Africa Center for Strategic Studies along with colleagues from the Department of Defense attended yesterday’s YALI Mandela Fellowship Expo to represent DoD.  We had the opportunity to have thought-provoking conversations with the YALI fellows about how security is tied into their important work, whether they realize it or not.  500 fellows selected from a pool of 50,000 have been in the US for the past weeks attending leadership institutes across the country.  They arrived in Washington this weekend for a summit with President Obama.  Some will stay for an additional internship while others will return home.  Congratulations to all the fellows!
