Name: Lieutenant Colonel Charity Njuguna
Country: Kenya (Defence Forces, Army)
Attended: Legal Aspects of Combatting Terrorism course, 2007
Comment: LCT was a period of intense exchange of ideas and experiences among different legal systems and jurisdictions around the world. Hence, LCT was a great eye-opener on the challenges faced in the general legal jurisprudences of law, particularly in the domain of counterterrorism. I also enjoyed my time in Newport and meeting people from other backgrounds and cultures.
The DIILS staff was exceptional and very knowledgeable on the thematic topics. This made the stay there memorable and a great experience, and helped me immensely in my professional advancement and in adapting to and fitting in the UN system’s multicultural work environment for my current assignment as Military Legal Officer in the Office of Military Affairs, Department of Peacekeeping Affairs Office at the United Nations Headquarters.
I would definitely recommend DIILS to anyone looking for a refreshing scholarly journey in international legal studies within the security and defence context. Many compliments to DIILS and staff for a commendable job.
