The Defense Institute of International Legal Studies (DIILS) traveled to Malta from 30-31 January where we conducted an interactive, 2-day seminar on international human rights and humanitarian law.  The program participants included 23 members of the Armed Forces of Malta currently assigned to the Maltese Maritime Squadron.  The maritime squadron has a wide range of duties, including coast guard, customs, marine police, fisheries protection, and search and rescue.  The program was well-received by all of the participants, several of whom expressed their appreciation to the US government for this assistance.
