and DIILS Program Director John McLoughlin at the 2013
World Justice Forum.

DIILS' John McLoughlin, Program Director for Africa and Latin America, participated in the 2013 The World Justice Forum in The Hague.  He was a panelist for the discussion on The Rule of Law Index and The Military, which examined the definition and measurement of nations' adherence to the rule of law.

The WJF is a global gathering designed to improve the state of the world by engaging business, government, civil society, academic, and other leaders to develop practical, multidisciplinary programs to strengthen the rule of law and debate crucial rule of law issues with a focus on shared learning and collaboration.  During the Forum, participants from more than 100 countries engaged in formal plenary and active breakout sessions, learned about innovative rule of law programs, discussed with researchers and scholars during "workshop" hours, and networked with other leaders from different disciplines.  The Forum also provided a venue for discussion and debate about the findings of the WJP Rule of Law Index, an innovative assessment tool that measures how well countries adhere to the rule of law in practice.
