From DIILS | anonymous | 12 Mar 2014

A multi-Service team of nine DIILS adjuncts, including judge advocates from Navy, Army, Air Force and Marines, and a senior enlisted Navy Legalman, engaged with over 1600 new recruits to the FARDC, the military force of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), making this the largest single DIILS engagement to date.  The team covered subjects ranging from the Law of Armed Conflict and Human Rights to Command Responsibility and Gender-Based Violence.  The engagement took place over four days (25-28 Feb) at the FARDC Recruit Training Base in Kitona, and culminated in a graduation ceremony for the troops, including a pass and review and a speech by BGEN Mustafa, the Kitona Base Commander, who thanked DIILS for its unprecedented level of support to enhancing the professionalization of the FARDC forces.
