DIILS in conjunction with the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, United States Forces Iraq (USF-I), conducted a seminar on investigations, forensics and cyber law in Erbil, Iraq 17-22 September 2010.

The seminar focused on investigative tools and techniques that can be used by investigators and prosecutors to improve the quality of criminal investigations and prosecutions in the Iraqi justice system. 

Over 57 attendees from all parts of Iraq took part in lectures, practical exercises and group discussions throughout the week.  Attendees included judges, prosecutors, investigators, legal advisors and other officials from the Iraqi Ministries of Defense and Interior, Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service, the Kurdish Regional Government Ministry of Interior and the Kurdish Regional Government Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs.  DIILS team members included Captain Lance Gordon, judge advocate US Naval Reserve; Colonel Christopher Hamilton, judge advocate, US Marine Corps Reserve; Eric Tentarelli, Senior Agent, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Baghdad, Iraq; John Phelps, Regional Program Director, DIILS; Major Christian Pappas, International Operations Officer, DIILS; and Major Kevin Ingram, International Operations Officer, DIILS.   Participants from USF-I SJA included Major John Gregory,  Chief of Military Justice, USF-I, Mohammad Soly, Legal Advisor, USR-I SJA and Master Sergeant Darrell Wade, Chief Legal NCO, USF-I, SJA.
