In late July the Alumni Office announced it was accepting applications for the 2016 MC Scholars Program and by the 30 September deadline we received 100 applications!!  This was far beyond our expectations but certainly reinforced our need for the program.

After carefully reviewing all applications the Scholarship Committee made some difficult decisions to get down to the three positions we have funding for.  The 2016 Scholars are:  Agnieszka Wierzbicka, Poland, PASS 11-10, "European Comparative Study on Public-Private Partnership in Cyber Security"; Bassem Shaaban, Lebanon, SSCB 15-02, "The Displaced Syrian Security Challenge in Lebanon"; and Rosana Bulancea, Romania, PASS 12-09, "Joint Investigation Teams (JIT) and Perspectives on using them as tools in Combating Illegal Migration".  Congratulations to all!

Because we did received so many applications, an additional six proposals were tentatively accepted pending funding.  These tentative scholarships were offered to:  Iryna Lysychkina, Ukraine, PASS CB 13-11; Irina Modnikova, Russia, EP 99-4, SES 04-6; Mariusz Fryc, Poland, LPASS 007-1; Besa Kabashi, Kosovo, SSTAR 12-02; Lars Scraeyen, Belgium, PTSS 13-07; Saliou Faye, Senegal, PTSS 10-3.

Thank you to all the Alumni who submitted proposals and gathered all the required documents.  There were so many good proposals but unfortunately we could not take everyone.  Please stay tuned next year as we plan to make a similar announcement for 2017 Scholars.
