Congratulations to Mr. Edmunds Akitis (STACS 2011-2) who learned over the summer that he had earned a Fulbright Scholarship to study for a Masters Degree in Homeland Security -- the first such program of its kind in the world -- at California's San Diego State University.  Edmunds (who has previously served as a Senior Expert for NATO Support and Mobilization at the Latvian State Emergency Medical Service and contemporaneously as Deputy Director at the Center of Emergency Disaster Medicine and Deputy Head of Crisis Management Center in the Latvian Prime Minister's Office) credited his Marshall Center Seminar in Transatlantic Security Studies with helping him immensely with earning the scholarship.  Edmunds (pictured above on location in Southern California) reports that he is adjusting to the academic rigors of the new program and making fast friends with the many professionals in the program, which includes law enforcement and armed forces personnel.
