About 40 Marshall Center alumni met in Budapest on 10 December to attend a networking event. The Hungarian Deputy State Secretary for Defense Policy and Planning, Mr. Peter Siklosi (SES 2005-3), and U.S. charge d'affaires Mr. Andre Goodfriend gave welcoming remarks. Both speakers noted that the Marshall Center is a key transatlantic link that is needed more today than ever, particularly in the face of a resurgent Russia. Alumni Association president Ferenc Boesenbacher (Executive Course 1994-1) shared some of his memories from his class at the Marshall Center 20 years ago.
Marshall Center professor, Dr. Samuel Mullins, gave a thought-provoking presentation on "Foreign Fighters in Jihadist Conflict Zones" and the challenges that more than 16,000 fighters from 90 countries who have joined ISIS bring to western nations. Dr. Mullins fielded questions from the audience and the group had an opportunity to network and meet fellow alumni.
