Moldovan Alumni Meet to Discuss Energy and Strategic Security
From GCMC | anonymous | 20 Mar 2014

For the ninth time in as many years the Marshall Center’s Moldovan Alumni Association held its annual Security Cooperation Roundtable at the Army Museum in Chisinau on 18 March 2014.  This year’s event, which was attended by approximately 100 Moldovan government officials and scholars – an all-time high – focused on Moldova’s energy and strategic security concerns.  The Marshall Center Dean of the College of International Security Studies, Dr. Robert Brannon, gave the keynote address, followed by Dr. Sigita Kavaliunaite of the NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence, then a video-link presentation from Mr. Sorin Encutescu of the Romanian Prime Minister’s Chancellery and a final presentation from political analyst Mr. Veaceslav Berbec of Moldova.

The alumni also used the occasion to launch the 8th edition of their Securitate Prin Cooperare journal which is available here for download.

Photos of the event can be seen here.

Our thanks to MG (Ret.) Ion Coropcean for opening the event and, of course, to Alumni Association Chairman Colonel (reserve) Andrei Covrig for serving as the program moderator and organizer.  We also wish to thank the many staff of the Moldovan Armed Forces and Moldovan Center for Military Culture and History for supporting this event, as well as the US Embassy ODC.
