Attention Marshall Center Alumni,
We are still seeking alumni contributors for the next edition of per Concordiam, which will examine the topic of “Emerging High North Security Challenges”. Please consider this opportunity to be published in the Marshall Center’s premier journal.
per Concordiam is a professional Journal for European Security and Defense Issues and is published quarterly in English and Russian by the U.S. European Command and the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies. It addresses defense and security issues in Europe and Eurasia for military and security practitioners and experts. The current hard copy circulation of per Concordiam has over 10,000 audience members in 154 countries. The Marshall Center encourages all of its alumni to consider contributing as authors. Article submissions should be written in the 2009 AP style, must be 2,000 – 5,000 words in length, and must pass review and approval by the editorial board.
This Emerging High North / Arctic Security edition’s focus is on the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Arctic Strategy of June 2019 outlined in three strategic priorities for the region: an increased understanding of the Arctic Environment, military challenges, and the maintenance of a rules-based order in the region.
Scope: The edition focuses on security implications within the region paying particular attention to Russian policy within the High North (restoration or dominance), China’s growing geostrategic objectives, and climate change increasing resource competition potential leading to armed conflict. Additionally, looking at the rules based order, how should NATO respond to the growing security challenges and future of the Arctic Council?
If interested, please send a short abstract or summary of 300-600 words by 15 January 2021. Full articles are due by 1 March 2021.
