On 3 August 2023, The Strategist published NESA Center alumnus David Brewster's Op-Ed "New technologies will allow Indo-Pacific states to build ‘sovereign maritime domain awareness.’"

"A multi-faceted technological revolution is bringing MDA [maritime domain awareness] within reach of even the smallest of countries, potentially giving them the tools to understand and govern their own maritime domains at an achievable price," writes Brewster.
