On 22 June 2023, the NESA Center for Strategic Studies published alumna Maida Farid's Op-Ed "Pakistan: A Land of Dented Democracy and Increasing Polarization" on the current state of democracy and increasing polarization in Pakistan.

"The socio-political fabric of Pakistan is greatly polarized on all levels, from the political elite to the masses, with a noticeable lack of consensus on fundamental democratic norms."
