Faculty Publication: Dr. Gawdat Bahgat authors Chapter 10 in the book "The Arab Gulf States and Iran: The Roots and Manifestations of Rivalry in the Gulf Regional System"
On 6 June, the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies at the Doha Institute published the book "The Arab Gulf States and Iran: The Roots and Manifestations of Rivalry in the Gulf Regional System" (in Arabic). The book includes thirteen studies, all of which focus on the issue of the relationship of the Arab Gulf States with Iran. NESA Center Professor Dr. Gawdat Bahgat authored Chapter 10 of the book, which focuses on energy transition in the Gulf states.
The tenth chapter discusses the issue of the rise in oil prices during the seventies of the last century and the beginning of the current century once the threat to its exports from the Gulf was possible, and the situation changed after that to the interests of oil consumers not being affected much by this matter, especially from 2015 to 2020. This exposes the Gulf states to negative consequences, and necessitates a review of the concept of energy security after the events of 2019 to 2021.
