On 12 June 2023, Gulf International Forum published NESA Center Professor Dr. Gawdat Bahgat's article "Egypt and Iran: Prospects for Rapprochement."
Dr. Bahgat argues, "Though similar in many ways, Egypt and Iran have long found themselves in political opposition to one another — now they may be forced to consider forging better ties to keep themselves afloat."
About the Author
Dr. Gawdat Bahgat is a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at Gulf International Forum and a Professor at the Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies at the National Defense University. He is the author of 11 books on the Middle East. His areas of expertise include energy security, proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, Iran and American foreign policy.
