Dr. Gawdat Bahgat is a Professor at the Near East South Asia (NESA) Center for Strategic Studies at the National Defense University in Washington, D.C. and a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at Gulf International Forum. He is a specialist in Middle Eastern policy, particularly Egypt, Iran, and the Gulf region, and is the author of 11 books on the Middle East. His areas of expertise include energy security, proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, counter-terrorism, Arab-Israeli conflict, North Africa, and American foreign policy in the Middle East.
