On 31 March 2024, Saudi Arabia's Ara'a Magazine, which spotlights Gulf initiatives for regional security, published articles by two NESA Center faculty (in Arabic) in its 196th Issue.

Professor Dr. Gawdat Bahgat explores the "Biden administration and the Middle East Crisis" while Professor David Des Roches discusses "Three Restrictions that Prevent America From Using Effective Military Options to Defend the Gulf and Red Sea."

 

About the Authors

Dr. Gawdat Bahgat is a Professor of National Security Affairs at the National Defense University’s Near East South Asia (NESA) Center for Strategic Studies. He is an Egyptian-born specialist in Middle Eastern policy, particularly Egypt, Iran, and the Gulf region. His areas of expertise include energy security, proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, counter-terrorism, Arab-Israeli conflict, North Africa, and American foreign policy in the Middle East.

David Des Roches is a Professor at the Near East South Asia (NESA) Center for Strategic Studies. He specializes in Gulf region security.
