The Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies hosted a luncheon discussion on 15 May 2024 in Washington, D.C. The conversation focused on the theme "Emerging Challenges, Technological Innovation, and the Maritime Domain." Approximately 49 members of a variety of embassy country teams posted in Washington, D.C., along with a delegation of participants from the Silk Road Seminar.

Assistant Professor Jeffrey Payne moderated a conversation with Aditi Kumar, the Deputy Director for Strategy, Policy, and National Security Partnerships at the Defense Innovation Unit, and Gregory B. Poling, Senior Fellow and Director for the Southeast Asia Program and Asia Maritime Transparency Initiative at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
