NEWPORT -- A delegation from Lebanon visited the United States to learn about professional military education of American soldiers on the Law of Armed Conflict and International Human Rights Law. The delegation, headed by the Director of International Humanitarian Law of the Lebanese Armed Forces, began their visit with meetings at DIILS in Newport, Rhode Island. From there, they traveled to Washington D.C. for meetings at the Pentagon with the Deputy Judge Advocate General of the U.S. Army, and with representatives of the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor at the U.S. Department of State. They concluded their trip with a visit to the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School in Charlottesville, Virginia.
