Military Law Development Program 2 (MLDP-II) (MASL P176029)
This 10 week course is for legal advisors whose legal training qualifies them to practice law in their nation. MLDP-2 offers advanced study of international and operational law that includes attending the Armed Conflict and Human Rights (LCHR), Legal Aspects of Maritime Security Operations (LAMSO) and International Law of Military Operations (ILOMO) courses. Participants learn the basics of international human rights and international humanitarian law in LCHR and then apply these principles to legal aspects of military and maritime security operation during LAMSO and ILOMO.
Participants visit Coast Guard facilities in Boston and New York City and they meet key United Nations officials at UN Headquarters. They take part in cultural familiarization activities in Newport, RI, Boston, MA, and New York City.

Individuals whose legal training qualifies them to practice law in their nation as staff legal advisors with responsibilities to advise on application of law to military operations. Please consult with the DIILS Resident Course Director about which of the two MLDP courses is the best option for the participant you wish to send.
Course Focus Options:
This course focuses on operational Law in coalition operations with special emphasis on maritime operations.
2020 Course Dates: 13 April - 18 June, participants should plan to arrive on 8 April and depart on 19 June.
