Legal Aspects of Maritime Law Enforcement and Security Operations (LAMSO), MASL: P176009
Course Focus:
This three-week course will be offered once per year in Newport, Rhode Island. LAMSO features visits to U.S. Coast Guard installations in Boston, MA, Groton, CT, Yorktown, VA and visits with key U.S. experts in Washington D.C. FSP events in these locations will also be included. LAMSO provides a comprehensive overview of the legal aspects of maritime security operations and aims to enhance partner familiarity with international law of military operations and maritime law enforcement. Participants will analyze U.S. maritime law enforcement regulations and procedures and consider their potential applicability as a model for capacity development in their respective countries.
Recommended Attendees:
• Coast Guard officers or Navy equivalents.
• Military planners and staff officers working in the area of maritime security.
• Maritime Academy instructors.
• Police with maritime jurisdiction.
2020 Course Dates: 04-21 May, participants should plan to arrive on 29 April and depart on 22 May.
