DIILS ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT
May 29, 2020 – Today is International Day of UN Peacekeeping. The theme for this year is Women in Peacekeeping, in recognition of the twentieth anniversary of the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution #1325 on Women, Peace and Security.
Today we honor and thank all UN Peacekeepers, and share an interview from one of our resident course alumni, engaged in this collective peacekeeping effort.
DIILS ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT – Interview with UN Peacekeeper
“I, Major Nargis Hussain, was deployed on a UN Peacekeeping Mission on 20th June 2019, in the Democratic Republic of Congo as a Legal Advisor. I belong to a Pathan family from a remote area in KPK Pakistan. Pathan are usually conservative and no female out of our family or entire area got the opportunity and was allowed to get educated. But, due to the efforts of my parents and their strong support, I am the first female to join the Army as a career and am now serving my country for the great cause of humanity in the Congo. As an alumni of DIILS, I thank my colleagues and my instructors for imparting training and sessions on legal aspects of combating terrorism in a beneficial way which has helped me on my deployment abroad.”
Major Hussain attended Legal Aspects of Combating Terrorism in 2015.
