Palau, July 14-18, 2024 – The Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies (DKI APCSS) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) partnered to organize a Women in Leadership event in Palau. This five-day workshop brought together a diverse group of women from the Indo-Pacific region who are actively involved in the defense, law enforcement, and justice sectors. The event aimed to empower participants, foster personal growth, and facilitate networking opportunities.

The Republic of Palau, known for its strong commitment to environmental protection and its matriarchal traditions, served as the ideal location for this gathering. Participants had the opportunity to explore the principles and practices of modern leadership in a setting that values both the preservation of the environment and the contributions of women to society.

The Honorable J. Uduch Sengebau Senior,  Vice President of the Republic of Palau & Minister of Justice, spoke during the event. She stated that “there is an urgent need to focus on adopting a range of legal, social and political measures that will support the participation of women of all diversities in decision-making positions – at local, national, regional and international levels and in all institutions in public and private spheres.”

During the event, which took place from July 14th to July 18th, 2024, the women engaged in a transformative journey of empowerment, growth, and networking. They shared experiences, exchanged ideas, and gained valuable insights from each other’s perspectives.

The Women in Leadership event in Palau served as a platform for women from the Indo-Pacific region to come together, learn from each other, and inspire positive change in their respective fields. Through the collaborative efforts of DKI APCSS and the FBI, participants gained valuable knowledge, skills, and connections that will contribute to their professional growth and leadership development.
