From NESA | by Gillian Hurtt | 26 Mar 2025

From 25–27 February 2025, the Near East South Asia (NESA) Center for Strategic Studies gathered over 40 participants from more than 15 partner and allied nations in San Francisco, CA, for a forum focused on technical and technological enhancements for maritime domain awareness and underwater domain awareness. The conversations ranged from discussions of protecting critical underwater infrastructure to more rapid maritime security information sharing. The event featured official government representatives, prominent subject matter experts on the maritime domain and technology, and private technological and information firms involved in domain awareness efforts.

NESA Center Director, Ambassador (Ret.) John Desrocher, opened and closed the event, while Professor Jeffrey Payne led the deliberations. For more information on the NESA Center’s work in maritime and underwater domain awareness, please contact the NESA Center’s Registrar's Office or reach out directly to Professor Payne.
