Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies welcomed delegations from the Command of Higher Education of the Guatemalan Army (COSEDE) and Mexico’s Center for Advanced Naval Studies (CESNAV).     Perry Center Conducts Concurrent Caribbean and Governance Security & Defense Courses

    From May 5-16, 2025, the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies convened 105 participants from 25 countries for the resident phase of two concurrent courses: Caribbean Security & Defense (CSD) and Governance and Strategy for Security & Defense (GSSD). Vice Admiral Exón Oswaldo Ascencio Albeño, Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of El Salvador and a Perry Center alumnus, delivered the keynote address. Continue reading

    On April 10, 2025, Perry Center Professor Celina Realuyo participated virtually in the “Crisis of Governance in Security and Development” forum, hosted by Simón Bolívar University (Unisimón) in Cúcuta, Colombia. The event, part of Unisimón’s Expert Lecture Series, was organized by the university’s Department of Outreach and External Services and brought together approximately 150 participants from across Colombia. The Perry Center is a DoD institution for defense and security studies in the Western Hemisphere. Through courses, seminars, outreach, strategic dialogue, and focused research in support of policy objectives, the Perry Center works with senior civilian and military officials from the Americas to build strong, sustainable networks of security and defense leaders and institutions.
