The William J. Perry Award for Excellence in Security and Defense Education

Every year, the Perry Center recognizes individuals who and organizations that have made significant and sustained contributions advancing mutually supportive approaches to security, fostering transparent and capable defense and security governance institutions, and strengthening institutional capacity in the Americas.

Eligibility:  Awardees may be either individuals who or organizations that, through education, research, outreach, and/or scholastic leadership, have contributed to the knowledge base of defense and security practitioners, advanced a cooperative international security environment, and/or promoted sustainable institutional capacity in the Americas. Awardees will have made sustained contributions in their fields in a manner consistent with the Perry Center’s mission.

Nomination Process:  Send nominations to the Perry Center Selection Committee via award coordinator Michael Mann (see address below). Please include the name of the individual or organization nominated and the nominator, contact information for both, a justification for the nomination, and supportive material(s). Nominations may be made in either English or Spanish. The total package should not exceed 3,000 words.

Submit all nominations by June 30, 2017, to Michael Mann. Send electronic submissions to mannm@ndu.edu and/or paper submissions to: Perry Center Award Committee, ATTN:  Michael Mann, Abraham Lincoln Hall, 260 5th Ave., Washington, D.C.  20319-5066

Cada año, el Centro Perry reconoce a individuos y organizaciones que han contribuido de manera significativa y sostenida para lograr aportes mutuamente beneficiosos en el área de seguridad, promoviendo instituciones de gobierno en materia de seguridad y defensa transparentes, y fortaleciendo la capacidad institucional en las Américas.

Criterios de Selección:  Los ganadores pueden ser individuos u organizaciones que, a través de la educación, la investigación, la promoción o el liderazgo educativo, hayan aportado nuevos conocimientos a los expertos en defensa y seguridad, hayan promovido la colaboración en un entorno de seguridad internacional, fomentado la capacidad institucional de manera sostenible en las Américas. Los ganadores serán aquellos que hayan hecho aportes ininterrumpidos en sus respectivas especialidades de acuerdo con la misión del Centro Perry.

Proceso de Nominación:  Las nominaciones deben enviarse al Comité de Selección del Centro Perry, a través del coordinador de premios Michael Mann (ver dirección abajo). Recuerde incluir el nombre de la persona u organización a nominar y del que propone la candidatura, la información de contacto de ambos, una justificación de la nominación y el/los material(es) complementario(s). Las nominaciones pueden presentarse en inglés o en español. El material de la nominación no debe exceder un total de 3000 palabras.
