DIILS NAVAL RESERVE UNIT WINS THE GILBERT CUP
Congratulations to our naval reserve team, which has been awarded the 2013-2014 Gilbert Cup! The Rear Admiral Gerald E Gilbert Cup is awarded annually to the most outstanding legal support unit in the US Naval Reserves, Judge Advocate General's Corps.
The mission of the DIILS Naval Reserve unit is to provide legal expertise in support of DIILS resident courses and mobile engagements. In Fiscal Year 2013, DIILS conducted 96 mobile programs and engaged over 3,000 international participants, and executed 9 resident courses at Naval Station Newport that reached 145 international participants from 55 countries.
The NR-DIILS unit is comprised of lawyers who travel as adjunct instructors on DIILS missions, often on short notice. The hours are long, the conditions are often challenging, but the work is rewarding. The dedication and work ethic of these naval reserve unit members ensures the continued success of DIILS' global mission of promoting professional legal education, training, and engagement for international military and related civilian professionals.
We heartily thank the DIILS Naval Reserve unit for their excellent support and congratulate them on a job well done!
