DIILS Partners with Iraqi Leaders to Combat Terrorism in 16th Mobile Education Program with Iraq
In April 2008, DIILS took a mobile team to Baghdad, to assist in the Global War on Terror through a program on the Legal Aspects of Combating Terrorism. Led by DIILS International Operations Officer, Major Christian Ruwe (U.S. Marine Corps), the team included two U.S. Navy and two U.S. Army team members.
During the week-long program, 14 military and nine civilian participants attended lectures and participated in seminar exercises which dealt with real world events, exploring the laws which assist in combating terrorism. Seminar topics included a broad spectrum of the legal aspects of combating terrorisom, including: Investigating Terrorism, Combating Terrorism with Law Enforcement, Interagency Cooperation, Combating the Spread of Small Arms and Light Weapons, and other fundamental components of combating terrorism.
A highlight of the program was presentations by two senior Iraqi personnel, addressing the Iraqi Law with respect to terrorism, and the challenges and responses to terrorism in Iraq.
DIILS has completed more than 900 mobile training programs, reaching nearly 30,000 military and civilian participants as of November 2008.
