About
DISAM has revised its mission and vision statements – only a part of an ongoing Strategic Review of DISAM which has us looking at much of what we do in terms of business processes (everything from accreditation to personnel issues to curriculum review). Speaking of Curriculum Review, we just concluded our annual meeting on 18 February 2016 with about 45 reps from organizations most likely including yours. We are switching gears a bit and creating a more formal process which will pair DISAM and various constituency subject matter experts in a more deliberate review of courseware and courses. This will also work in concert as DISAM deals with DSCA leadership in prioritization of resources to make the biggest dent possible in ever growing training requirements.
I’d also note that our Headquarters, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, continues its “Vision 2020” initiatives, with progress being noted in a variety of areas. I’d encourage you to check those out on the DSCA website!
DISAM endeavors to make our website more viable and user friendly for all who reference it for course information, publications, or other features serving the SC Enterprise. I’ve noted our “Ask An Instructor” feature previously – and that continues to be a crowd-pleaser. In CY2015, we responded to 335 questions (and 1800 in the past 5 years) which wouldn’t include those who have been helped by a large Frequently Asked Question database. One new feature on the website now gives you the opportunity to recommend changes/corrections to the DISAM “Greenbook”. We solicit any feedback you have to make DISAM better meet your needs! I’d also simply add that I hope that you are familiar with our “SC Programs Handbook” which now provides information on over 100 SC programs. Although certainly not all-inclusive, it outlines many of our tools to Build Partner Capacity!
Many thanks for your support of DISAM as we reach more people doing more work in Security Cooperation as the programs and authorities continue to grow. Never hold back on information that helps us better serve you. We truly want to help you make a difference!
Sincerely,
Dr. Ron Reynolds
