What China Wants in Africa
The Jerusalem Strategic Tribune published NESA Center regular speaker Joshua Meservey's recent article "What China Wants in Africa."
What accounts for China’s prioritization of its Africa policy? Meservey provides both diplomatic and economic explanations for the strength of China’s ties to Africa.
"The Chinese Communist Party values Africa for many reasons, but the continent’s diplomatic importance and mineral wealth help explain why it engages the continent so intensively. This reality suggests that the Party’s preoccupation with Africa will persist as it continues its quest for national rejuvenation," writes Meservey.
