Florida International University hosted the launch of the newest issue of Americas Quarterly, which focuses on Latin America's militaries. Presenters at the February 12 event included (left to right) Brian Winter, editor-in-chieg of Americas Quarterly; Juan Carlos Pinzón, President, ProBogotá, and former Colombian Defense Minister; Brian Fonseca, Director of the Jack D. Gordon Institute for Public Policy, Florida International University; Dr. Fabiana Perera, Assistant Professor, William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies; and Randy Pestana, Assistant Director, Jack D. Gordon Institute for Public Policy, Florida International University. Dr. Perera discussed the Venezuelan Armed forces, focusing on possible challenges in a democratic transition.
